Our itinerary

We will do it a four-day road trip through this wonderful region using a car as a mean of transport. At this point, you just have to start the tour of the beautiful city of Reggio Calabria. Also read  WHAT ARE THE TEN PLACES YOU MUST SEE IN CALABRIA?

1) 4-Day Road Trip through Calabria – First day!

We arrive at Reggio Calabria Airport, we will pick up the rented car and depart for the Reggio Calabria hotel to drop off luggage and then immediately start the tour in the city. The visit can start from the Archaeological Museum, historical site and an important Palace of conservation of Italian culture, having one of the most important collections of artifacts from Ancient Greece and shelter from the famous Bronzes de Riace.

Stop for lunch and continue the tour...

After visiting the museum, stop for lunch at a restaurant and in the afternoon visit the famous Orla Falcomatà. The coast is for locals and tourists, a stage for walks and runs, with the backdrop of beautiful landscapes of the canal, like the scenes of a theater, which changes with the seasons and the wind is always present in the area; this scenario was defined by the poet Gabriele d’Annunzio, ‘the most beautiful kilometer in Italy’. 2) 4-Day Road Trip through Calabria – Second day!

After a good breakfast, we will leave for Locri, to visit its important archaeological site, and to discover the towns of Gerace and Stilo. Arrival in Locri and visit to the archaeological site, the Antiquarium.

Stop for lunch and continue the tour...

Then you will reach the village of Gerace, where you can take a break for lunch at a local restaurant, in the historic center of Gerace and soon after, visit the famous Cathedral of this charming medieval village. Then continue to the city of Stilo, visit the famous ‘Cattolica’, a small Byzantine temple, perfectly preserved; then, a dinner in a restaurant in downtown and straight to bed, in the hotel you have chosen.

3) 4-Day Road Trip through Calabria – Third day!

After a good breakfast, we leave the hotel to go to Le Castella, it is really a charming place, a small Calabria village on the island of Capo Rizzuto, where you can admire a beautiful Aragonese Castle that rises out of the sea, and can be considered a piece of paradise in Calabria.

Stop for lunch and continue the tour…

Departure to Santa Severina, one of the most beautiful villages in Calabria (I recommend lunch at the restaurant in front of the castle). Small, picturesque, one of the most beautiful towns in Calabria and Italy! It is really worth the visit! It is considered by the famous Italian tourist program “Kilamangiaro” as the third most beautiful village in Italy. After that wonderful day, just take some rest in some agriturismo in the Santa Severina area.

4) 4-Day Road Trip through Calabria – Fourth day!

After a good breakfast, we leave the hotel to go to Tropea and Capo Vaticano, where we will spend the night. As soon as you arrive at this picturesque village, Tropea, with its typical imposing marine architecture, and numerous remains of Roman buildings, palaces from the 17th and 18th centuries with Spanish style on balconies, doors and gardens that open onto squares and alleys.

A must-see is the Santa Maria Island Sanctuary, known for being a Benedictine sanctuary of medieval origin, later transformed into a basilica, with three Renaissance arches, a facade rebuilt after the 1905 earthquake and placed on a promontory, which has a spectacular view.

Stop for lunch and continue the tour…

Lunch and continue the trip to another pearl of Calabria, Capo Vaticano. The Capo Vaticano promontory is located on the Tyrrhenian coast, opposite Stromboli and the Aeolian Islands; extends in the municipality of Ricadi and thanks to its beautiful beaches and crystal clear waters, rich in fish, it is one of the most beautiful coasts in Italy. In fact, if the tour is short, you can visit Stromboli; a fascinating place! At this moment we can only have a delicious dinner and then take a lot of rest in Capo Vaticano.

5) 4-Day Road Trip through Calabria – Fifth day!

Departure to Reggio Calabria Airport or Lamezia Terme. END OF OUR TOUR!
