1) Advantages of living in Southern Italy! FIRST ADVANTAGE: THE CLIMATE!

In southern Italy the climate is very favorable! It’s very different from Northern Italian. Seasons are well defined. We can fully enjoy the characteristics of each season and enjoy the sun when it comes.

Fall in Southern Italy

Fall is known as the rainy season. It’s cold, but nothing compared to winter. Even in fall we can go to the beach. Days tend to be shorter as it gets dark earlier. Fall is the time of coziness, the season of dry leaves that give a special color to each city. A spectacle of yellow, orange and red tones.

Winter in Southern Italy

Our winter is harsh, as in all of Europe. Between the months of December and February the temperature varies from 2°C to 14°C. But winter, like other seasons, has its charms. When it snows, it’s wonderful! The mountains are all white! The landscape is taken by this pale beauty. We can play in the snow, ski, have a hot chocolate with our family…

Spring in Southern Italy

In spring, we can walk in the parks, visit the coast, visit medieval towns, medieval villages. The climate is mild, winter is gone and the summer heat has not yet arrived. Cities are cheerful, flowery, colorful. Southern cities, which already have their charms, become indescribable!

Summer in Southern Italy

Summer is very hot and dry with strong sun all day long. It looks like we’re in a Tropical climate. Beautiful beaches, true aquatic paradises. The sea is crystal clear! Cities gain a lot of movement and joy. We can stroll outdoors with a lot of walking in beautiful places!

The quality of food produced in Southern Italy is a great advantage of living here. Our foods are genuine, purchased directly from the producers. Here people generally eat what they grow or buy from local producers. Fresh vegetables and fresh fish and seafood. Not to mention handmade “pasta”. Tasty, healthy and affordable products. Italians are world renowned for their traditions, cuisine and architecture. Italian wine is also recognized for its excellence. The South has cities that stand out in wine production. Housing is an important factor when deciding where to live. Here in the South, housing is not expensive. Leases are cheaper than in the North of the country. You can choose to live in more central cities or in small towns or medieval villages. In larger cities, the value for money is very attractive, as you will pay a little more, but you will have the advantage of having supermarkets, banks, schools close by. Public transport

A differential in public transport in Italy is the fact that it does not have a collector or turnstile. Every Italian region has a company that manages the bus routes. The education system is an important issue for those who intend to live in another country with minor children and even of university age. Education in Italy is characterized by its excellence. In southern cities, which are smaller cities, schools have a smaller number of students per class, around 20 students, which is very beneficial in terms of formation. Dialogue is facilitated between all members of the school community. One have access to local teachers, school and educational services.

  • School menus tend to be healthier because they use organic foods and follow the local diet, that is, they consume more natural and less industrialized products.

Since 2012, I´ve been working with the enhancement and promotion of Italian territory in general and, since (2015) in a more specific and concrete way, I have been promoting this wonderful region (still little known by many people) called Calabria!

Our website will provide information about the more “tourist-friendly” Calabria and the less touristy – and therefore more authentic – Calabria, the one entrenched among medieval towns! This region has many medieval villages embedded in rocks, often built overlooking the sea, to protect themselves against Saracen invasions or in pleasant panoramic corners where life still happens according to the rhythm of each season.
