It is located on a rock overlooking the Tyrrhenian coast, in the southern part of the province of Cosenza. The most representative Palace is located in the heart of the old town: is the palace of Carelli – Pignatelli, of the sixteenth century. In 1536 the castle was embellished in Fiumefreddo according to the aesthetic standards of the time and the walls of the village and its two towers were built and called Golette.

The ruins of the castle…

The ruins of the castle, built on the cliffs of the valley, look from the top to the whole village. Today, after a long restoration that lasted about ten years, the castle is finally revived in all its beauty and decorum of the past, thanks to the recovery of some underground rooms that will become a place of art exhibitions and museums. We can safely say that the Castle of the Valley is one of the most important and beautiful monuments of Calabria.
