A little more about Calabria…

Calabria is one of the Italian regions with the widest variety of environments, landscapes and panoramas. It ranges from a clear sea, which surrounds almost the whole region, to the mountains of the Pollino and the Sila plateau. In this text, however, we will focus on the 700 kilometers of coastline and the two splendid seas, where the most beautiful beaches of Calabria, the Italian jewel, grow to spend an unforgettable vacation by the sea. But which are the most beautiful beaches of the coast of Calabria? Knowing all of them would be almost impossible, so we made a selection and, to avoid making a ranking, we will place them without following a specific order. What are the ten places must see in Calabria?

1) The 10 most beautiful beaches of Calabria: CAMINIA

Let’s start with one of the most beautiful and untouched beaches of the Italian coast! A beautiful bay situated on a stretch of the coast of the Ionian Sea called ‘Costa Saraceni’, we’re talking about Caminia. This resort is located on the Gulf of Squillace, between Catanzaro and Soverato. Caminia Beach is among the most beautiful and appreciated by tourists and locals.

A little more about Caminia

A short stretch of sand that sits between two cliffs that ‘fall’ from the hill overlooking the sea; it introduces itself to tourists as a hidden treasure. The cliffs offer, in fact, treasures of great importance, including sacred caves around which tells fascinating stories that fit between myth and legend. The sea is always crystalline, a true lagoon, especially on days with lowly wind, when hot weather encourages one cooling in a natural pool.

4) The 10 most beautiful beaches of Calabria: TROPEA

We were close to reaching the pride of Calabria, Tropea. This incredible beach makes it look like you are on a movie set. The white sand, crystal clear sea, stunning views, typical and unique coast make Tropea one of the most beautiful seaside resorts in Europe and its beach deserves the first place in the ranking of the most beautiful beaches in Calabria.

A little more about Tropea

A paradise for lovers of the sea and nature! Tropea ranked first among the twenty most beautiful beaches in Europe, as well as its sea, white beaches interspersed by cliffs and, also, thanks to its beautiful old town. Tropea, in fact, continues to fascinate for its old town with its imposing buildings and a typical 18th century architectural style that still imprisons inside its literally ‘captured’ walls, through the narrow streets that emerge in each narrow alleyway of the city.

The city is characterized by three distinct areas: the first, the urban area, is distributed on the coast; the second opens onto the hill and the third, the highest part of the city, represents the Ancient Soverato. One of the most important monuments of the city of Soverato is the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows, where there is a group of marble of the work ‘Piedade’. In the old part of town is the charming medieval village where there are still the ruins of the antique village destroyed by the earthquake of 1783.

We close this list of the ten most beautiful beaches in Calabria with Roseto Capo Spulico, a beautiful seaside resort of Ionian Cosentino, particularly famous for its attention to environmental protection and the preservation of the landscape. On the promontory of Cardone, overlooking the sea, there is the stone castle, dating from the Normans; an old village that is a truly fascinating tourist center.

A little more about Roseto Capo Spulico

The name Roseto comes from the Latin ‘Rosetum’, given the prevalence of Greek-Roman times rose culture used to fill the pillows of Sybarite princesses. Of great interest is the old town situated on a beautiful hill sloping towards the sea. Do not miss a walk along the seafront, a short stretch of beach between the rocks and reefs that separate the castle from the water. It will be difficult not to notice the rock anvil, now considered a true natural monument. It is a small cliff rising from the water almost like a mushroom.
