Typical Sila Dish and its Park
To prove it, there is the ‘mpanata’, one of the typical dishes of the region; is a soup made with ricotta cheese, hot milk whey and pieces of hard bread. Do not miss the typical products of the Park; it is inevitable to walk through the forests of conifers, rich symbol of the territory, whose main species is represented by black pine, present along the beechwood (diverse species of beech trees) and in the fascinating Forest of the Giants, where there are giant white firs, main characteristic of Sila National Park. 1) The Sila and the ski resorts: VISIT THE LOCALITÀ TASSO
The main activities that can be practiced during the summer and fall are the excursions in the Forest of Sila, where you can pick mushrooms, nuts and berries. In many areas it is also possible to rent bicycles or horses to wander the many trails. The Sila is, however, also one of the best areas for winter sports. Among the cities, those of Lorica, Camigliatello and Vila Palumbo, the best equipped and most have different systems to reach fascinating and cross-country descents. So why not ski in the beautiful mountains of Camigliatello in a ski resort with a gondola that has automatic release, where you can ski in two lanes, blue and red, and the cable cars, which are high technology?! In the Square you can also rent skis, appropriate clothes and enjoy a good sandwich in the nearby snack bars. The departure station is called Località Tasso, a place with bar, services and first aid.

2) The Sila and the ski resorts: VISIT THE PEARL OF SILA
The snow that falls in the winter months makes this resort a great attraction for snow sports. The same goes for the other ski resort that is called ‘pearl of Sila’, we are talking about Lorica. This place overlooks the artificial lake Arvo, where on the banks develop dense larch forests which particularly make the atmosphere predominantly Nordic in this part of Sila. A few years ago it became the headquarters of the Sila National Park and in places like Cavaliere are the ski lifts of Mount Botte Donato. Another place where you can ski is in Vila Palumbo, located in the middle of the most spectacular landscapes of the plateau of Sila, made of lakes, rivers and forests.
3) The Sila and the ski resorts: VISIT THE VILA PALUMBO
Vila Palumbo offers skiers two cable cars (one and two places) and another that goes up Mount Gariglione and serves several blue and red lanes, with a total of twenty kilometers with artificial snow and night illumination for two kilometers. Not to be underestimated the airport of Lamezia Terme, Camigliatello and San Giovanni in Fiore, forty-four kilometers, which means that you can reach these ski resorts in about twenty minutes by car.
